Homework
High school and middle school are busy times. Balancing family life, friends, extracurricular activites, school, rest, and sometimes work is very difficult. Studies have shown that most teens do not get enough rest and have poor eating habits, making it difficult to stay healthy.
Homework demands increase and can cause a great deal of stress. Be alert to signs that your teen is too busy. Also, be sure that adequate homework supplies are at home. Consider computer programs or aids that can make your teen’s study time more productive (i.e. using a word processor will save time compared to using a typewriter). Also, have resources such as encyclopedias readily available at home. This will save time going to and from the library.
Other points to consider:
-
If your child is having difficulty with homework talk to the teacher.
-
Be sure your teen has some down time with the family each night. If there isn’t time to do this, your teen is too busy.
